Over the past few years, our Middle East customer database has almost doubled in size! We’re now regularly shipping goods all over the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

Back in January 2013, we shipped a record number of goods to a company in Abu Dhabi. After some research on our part, we could see that the Abu Dhabi government were beginning to construct a new central business district on Al Maryah Island, in an attempt to move away from an oil-based economy by 2030. Some of the figures thrown around were astounding. The Abu Dhabi government pledged £51bn for development for the first 5 years alone, with a majority of the money going to changing Al Maryah Island from a 500m long strip of sand around 100m off Abu Dhabi’s main island, to a modern metropolis. To elevate just over half of the land to 14m above sea-level, it is estimated nearly 4000 bars of angle-iron are to be needed. That’s a lot of punching!
